Stablecoin net flows approach a golden cross, signaling more Bitcoin upside

Stablecoin net flows approach a golden cross, signaling more Bitcoin upside

Following Bitcoin’s recent ascent to the $80,000 price level, bulls are starting to hope for a $100,000 year-end finish for the premier cryptocurrency by market cap. Adding to the bullish thesis, exchange data shows that an increasing amount of stablecoins are now starting to flow into exchanges.

Stablecoin inflows surging to exchanges

To recall, net inflow of stablecoins into exchanges began to decline after the end of April, and since then, they have maintained a trend of net outflows. Notably, prolonged outflow of stablecoins from exchanges shows that investors are not willing to buy digital assets anytime soon.

At the same time, BTC started to see a sharp price pullback, making a local bottom of $65,900, on April 2. Eventually, BTC went on to make a market cycle low of $58,600 on July 1.

However, since then stablecoin outflows from exchanges have substantially tumbled. In contrast, inflows began to rise, resulting in a parallel increase in BTC’s price. Now, a gradual transition from a long-term trend to a net inflow trend is approaching.

In simple words, BTC’s rise in price accelerated following this net flow golden cross.

Here, a stablecoin flow golden cross means the longer-term trend in stablecoin net flows is being overtaken by a stronger short-term inflow trend, suggesting fresh liquidity is entering exchanges.

Historically, this can support Bitcoin because more stablecoins available on exchanges mean greater potential buying power. The rise in price of BTC is likely to persist, and the upward trend will continue until the increase in the net inflow trend of stablecoins stops.

Stablecoin movement over the year

Stablecoin reserves on exchanges have remained modest all through 2026. On July 22, stablecoin reserves hit a wall around $13 billion, much lower than their 2025 peak level.

Similarly, on July 27, the crypto market saw loss of strength in BTC buying power as Binance stablecoin outflows plunged by about 315 percent. On July 31, QCP remarked that the lack of liquidity in the crypto market had stalled BTC’s price action.
