About Ethereum

Ethereum (ETH) is a decentralized public blockchain network for developers to construct applications and assets. It is fueled by the native ETH coin. ETH is utilized as a utility currency to cover the costs of network interactions, transfers of value, and smart contracts. Additionally, the ETH can be staked to help safeguard the blockchain by validators. Ethereum is infrastructure in the wider cryptocurrency ecosystem for DeFi, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), gambling, stable coins, wallets and tokenised assets. Projects built on Ethereum or layering with Ethereum using scaling networks to save costs and latency. ETH is not a governance token per se, but it plays a vital role in transaction fees, staking, liquidity and settlement. It can be used to make payments, lend and borrow, and to buy digital products and blockchain services. Value is defined by demand and adoption by apps, security and cost to use the chain in situations of severe congestion.
