How to use our market cap calculator?
The Coin Headlines market cap calculator allows users to compare the value of crypto-currencies, not their token prices. It gives an idea of the value of a coin if it achieved the same market cap as another asset.
This is helpful in comparison with lesser-known tokens and larger tokens. Users can view the relationship between valuation and supply and not just the price, to see how this contributes to the potential upside of an asset.
The calculator also has the ability to calculate the total market value of a coin if its price and supply in circulation are given. This allows investors to have a better understanding of how a project is valued in the general crypto market.
The first step is to choose the fiat money you wish to use. This enables the calculator to display the answers in a familiar currency (USD or another supported currency).
Having a preferred fiat currency will allow them to figure out the estimated valuation and make comparisons with other assets.
Then select the coin/token you wish to work out. Next, choose which cryptocurrency you wish to compare it with by market cap.
For instance, if a token gains the valuation of Bitcoin's market cap, Ethereum's market cap or the valuation of any other major crypto asset, you can estimate how much it could be worth.
This is to enable users to do some thinking beyond their present valuation of the token and what other valuation levels may mean.
Once details are entered into the calculator, the calculator will display the approximate price based on the market cap comparison selected.
This allows users an easy option to examine potential valuations. It can also make the comparison more realistic than just looking at the token's price, and allow investors to compare assets more effectively.
Understanding market cap
Market capitalization provides a total estimation of the value of a cryptocurrency. This is determined by multiplying the amount in circulation by the price of one coin or token.
Price can be misleading and that is why market cap is important. The token might come across as a low-cost option simply because it is selling for a low price, but if it has a massive supply, its overall worth could be high.
Meanwhile, a coin which sells at a higher rate could also have a lesser number of coins circulating in the market and a lesser total market capitalization. Hence, market cap is a more preferable indicator to rely on than just the price of the stock.
Market cap = Circulating supply x Current price
For instance, with 10 million coins on circulation and each coin worth $50, the market cap of the cryptocurrency would be $500 million.
Why Market Cap Matters
Market cap is an essential metric for understanding the relative size and value of a cryptocurrency compared to others. It helps investors gauge the potential growth and risk associated with a particular cryptocurrency.
