Chiliz announced the launch of FanCup, a third-party AI-simulated football prediction game that lives on both Solana and Chiliz Chain. Basically, it gives anyone holding Fan Tokens a fresh way to actually play around with their assets, setting up a digital space where AI simulations run the matches while users put their tokens on the line to guess the winners.
What FanCup focuses on
The first cohort focuses on South American football, featuring clubs from the Copa Libertadores tournament. The timing fills the void in the football calendar, with matches running every 60 seconds: non-stop action that keeps token holders engaged even when there’s no live football being played.
FanCup is explicitly designed as an independent arena. As the team behind it explains: “This isn’t a prediction market on the real tournament. It’s its own arena, same clubs, same identity, a different game entirely.”
How it works
Players select a supported Fan Token, including VERDAO, FLU, and $SOL, choose the match outcome, and lock their position before the AI kickoff. Their tokens sit in escrow for the prediction window. An AI engine then plays out the match using a verifiable seed, with winning positions settling in the same token used to enter.
Because FanCup is cross-asset, any supported token can back any available market. This means a single fixture can move multiple tokens simultaneously; a significant departure from traditional fan token utility, where only a specific club’s token would be impacted by a real-world result.
Rewards and future expansion
The inaugural Game Weekend featured a $1,000 reward pool. $600 goes to the top five players by total payout, while $400 is allocated to a hold-to-enter draw. Anyone holding a supported token and placing at least one prediction gets an entry.
Even though they kicked things off with South American football, FanCup is definitely looking to bring in a lot more leagues and tournaments down the road. This platform is really just highlighting a much bigger trend of third-party games being built on Fan Tokens, following the lead of the fantasy football dApp Squad Me Up that launched during the 2026 World Cup.
