DASH is an open-source digital currency built for speedy, low-cost payments between people, almost like sending cash online. The name DASH stands for Digital Cash, and it’s used to power and secure the Dash network itself.  The way Dash works is a bit different from other blockchains: it uses two layers. On the first layer, miners handle the heavy lifting. They group up to validate transactions and keep the blockchain secure and running smoothly. On the second layer, you have masternodes. These aren’t just standing by. They handle extra features, like making instant transactions possible (that’s InstantSend), keeping user payments private when needed (PrivateSend), and guarding the network against attacks with a tool called ChainLocks. To run a masternode, you have to stake a chunk of DASH as collateral. This way, masternode operators have skin in the game. They are motivated to keep everything running smoothly and support the services DASH offers. All of this combines Bitcoin’s idea of decentralization with a few extra tricks, making money transfers faster and more flexible.
