Ripple USD, or RLUSD, serves as a stablecoin that maintains its value through a U.S. dollar peg, and Ripple Labs issues it for payment transactions. The service provides institutions with an efficient solution to conduct instant dollar-based international transfers that require regulatory compliance. Ripple built RLUSD for payments, treasury use, remittances, and trading where price certainty matters. The token is designed to track one U.S. dollar. Ripple says RLUSD is backed 1:1 by cash, cash equivalents, and short-term U.S. Treasuries, with monthly transparency reports used to check the reserves behind the coin. RLUSD is issued on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. That gives users access to XRPL’s payment rails while keeping the token connected to Ethereum’s wider digital asset markets. Ripple can mint or burn supply as demand changes. Ripple issues RLUSD through Standard Custody & Trust Company under New York oversight. BNY Mellon mainly holds the reserve assets in segregated accounts.
