COTI, the native token of the COTI Foundation, an enterprise-grade digital fintech platform, which eliminates all intermediaries and empowers any organization to build their own private payment solution has been on a tear lately, skyrocketing 154 percent over the past 3 days.
Nightfall testnet Phase 1 goes live
According to a recent X post, COTI’s Nightfall is now live on internal testnet, marking an important milestone for the privacy project. Essentially, the enterprise-grade zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup for compliant privacy on Ethereum has moved from architecture to a live working network.
For the uninitiated, A ZK rollup is a Layer 2 scaling solution that processes many transactions off the Ethereum mainnet and then submits a cryptographic proof to verify them on-chain. This reduces transaction costs and increases throughput, while preserving Ethereum’s security and ensuring the transactions are valid.
To provide some background, Nightfall is an open-source zero-knowledge privacy protocol originally built by Ernst & Young (EY) in 2019. The protocol has seen various upgrades, including a 2025 transition to a full ZK rollup architecture that delivers near-instant finality and improved performance.
Geared toward institutional demand, a key capability of Nightfall is that facilitates private transfers across multiple token standards – including ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, and ERC-3525.
Internal testing – Phase 1 of the testnet – is now live, where the COTI team and select partners are testing core network flows. Phase 2 of the testnet comprises external testing where builders and developers will be able to interact with Nightfall directly.
Notably, the mainnet rollout is slated for later this year following the same phased approach as displayed in the testnet rollout. The strong performance shown by COTI is reminiscent of the rallies exhibited by other privacy-focused digital assets, such as ZANO.
Where is COTI headed?
The following daily chart shows the extraordinary price appreciation seen by COTI over the past 3 days. Naturally, momentum indicators like the relative strength index (RSI) are in the higher territory currently, signalling caution for individuals planning to enter the trade.
Meanwhile, crypto analysts on X opine that COTI may consolidate at current price level around $0.016. In an X post, crypto analyst Crypto With Gopal highlighted that COTI has formed a bearish ‘double top’ pattern on the 1-hour chart, with a potential fall all the way down to $0.007 on the horizon.
Still, if the privacy narrative continues to take a hold of the industry, expect COTI to keep on surprising the wider crypto market. Positive effects may also cascade on to other privacy-focused cryptocurrencies such as Zcash and Monero.
