Charles Schwab Crypto expands offerings to include SOL, AVAX, and LINK

Charles Schwab to expand the digital assets available on Schwab Crypto

Charles Schwab announced its plans to expand the digital assets available on the Schwab Crypto platform. The move, which will add trading for Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink, is part of the digital finance evolution the firm has decided to take.

Schwab crypto moves beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum

In this context, Schwab marks an important expansion for the service, which launched in May 2026 with direct access to Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab, commented that this expansion aligns with the company’s approach to offer clients “access to familiar cryptocurrencies backed by an ecosystem of education, tools, resources, and support.”

Adding depth to a growing platform

Schwab Crypto is shaking things up by adding SOL, AVAX, and LINK to the mix, which finally takes them past just the big two crypto players. The firm selected these specific tokens because of their established market presence and client demand alignment.

Plus, since each token taps into a different part of the crypto world, clients get a taste of everything from smart-contract networks to oracle infrastructure.

There’s no set date for when these new coins will drop, but we’ll likely see them roll out in stages just like the platform did at the start.

Going head-to-head with big names like Coinbase and Robinhood, Schwab Crypto tags on a fee of 75 basis points, or about 0.75 percent for every trade. The best part is that clients can check out their crypto holdings right next to their regular investments on Schwab.com, the mobile app, or the thinkorswim platform.

The service is provided through Charles Schwab Premier Bank, with Paxos acting as the sub-custodian and trade execution provider.

A measured expansion with real-world limits

The Schwab announcement came with clear guardrails. While 39 million account holders now have access to SOL, AVAX, and LINK, the service remains unavailable in New York and Louisiana, and does not operate outside the U.S.

Schwab also flagged in its disclosures that the tokens are not Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation-insured, not Securities Investor Protection Corporation-protected, and can lose their full value.

The firm reserves the right to delay or withdraw support for announced assets based on regulatory or risk developments. This cautious approach reflects the measured strategy of a $12 trillion asset manager entering a speculative market.
