Bitcoin’s short-term cost basis jumps to $75,900 as price pushes higher

Bitcoin’s short-term cost basis jumps to USD 75,900 as price pushes higher

As of Wednesday, Bitcoin continues to trade in the high $70,000 range, inching closer to breaking through the psychologically important $80,000 level. Following the top cryptocurrency’s latest price bump, its newest cost basis has also jumped in tandem.

Bitcoin cost basis sees sharp rise

According to exchange-level data received on Wednesday, Bitcoin’s cost basis has now climbed to around $75,900. This comes as yet another bullish development amid news of capital rotating out of AI semiconductor stocks to cryptocurrencies and precious metals.

For the uninitiated, Bitcoin cost basis is the average price at which a specific group of Bitcoin holders acquired their coins, based on the price when those coins last moved.

Comparing BTC’s current price with its cost basis helps show whether that group is broadly sitting on unrealized profit or loss and can identify potential support or resistance levels.

As a result, the $75,900 price level has become an important short-term threshold. Notably, the next age band for BTC also shows a significant price difference.

The realized price for coins aged one week to one month currently stands at just $63,880, well below both Bitcoin’s market price and the much faster-rising 1 day to 1 week level.

At the time of writing, BTC remains about 3.4 percent above its cost basis, keeping the short-term structure constructive. In short, as long as BTC stays above $75.9K, the latest on-chain structure continues to favor the bulls.

A mature digital asset

Unlike the vast majority of altcoins that pump every cycle and then vanish into irrelevance, BTC has again proved why it’s arguably the only mature digital asset in 2026. The digital asset’s latest rally has been nothing short of extraordinary, and is showing signs of maturity.

On Tuesday, CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju said that the BTC market cycle has turned bullish for the first time since 2023. Another positive development came in the form of BTC forming a bullish triangle against gold on the weekly chart.
