About Ethereum Classic

Ethereum Classic was created due to an Ethereum hard fork in 2016. It retained the original Ethereum blockchain.The cryptocurrency Ether Classic (ETC) is the native currency of the Ethereum Classic blockchain and serves as the transaction fee for using this network as well as for rewarding miners who validate blocks using this network.The Ethereum Classic blockchain is still following a proof-of-work (PoW) model, which is the same as the Bitcoin one, while the Ethereum blockchain uses a proof-of-stake (PoS). The miner needs to solve the maths problem to validate a new block on the Ethereum Classic blockchain.The Ethereum Classic blockchain also supports the deployment of smart contracts and the development of decentralized applications (DApps), but this is done with the emphasis on immutability, and preserving the history of the data for the transactions which the smart contract is tied to.
