Solana’s near outage reinforces confidence in network resilience

Unlike other outages that tarnish the reputation of the network, Solana’s near outage has given more confidence to the community. Despite the near outage, SOL also did not flinch, and the coin continues to stay above the 50-day MA.

Solana mainnet kept working despite disruption

The Solana network had a near outage after the infrastructure provider Terraswitch nearly failed. These figures suggest that Solana’s validator set was able to absorb a significant infrastructure disruption without the mainnet actually stopping. Of the 699 staked validators, 597 continued voting, meaning roughly 85% remained active during the incident. The affected validators also recovered within 40 minutes, while validators participating in the Solana Foundation Delegation Program were unaffected.

For the network, this is important because validators are responsible for maintaining consensus and confirming transactions. Even though a large amount of staked SOL temporarily went offline, enough stake remained online to keep the network producing blocks and processing transactions. However, the incident was still a serious warning: separate analysis found that roughly 28.83% of staked SOL became delinquent, close to the 33.34% threshold at which Solana would stop finalizing transactions.

So the bullish interpretation is resilience rather than “the outage was good.” Solana effectively demonstrated that it could withstand a major infrastructure failure without a full mainnet halt. That can strengthen confidence in the network’s reliability compared with earlier outages. At the same time, the incident exposes a weakness: too much stake being concentrated with a single infrastructure provider can bring the network dangerously close to its finality threshold.

SOL stays above the 50-day MA

Meanwhile, SOL also held above the 50-day MA without being significantly shaken by the incident. Usually, an outage of this scale can trigger investor panic, as concerns over network reliability may prompt traders to reduce their exposure and increase selling pressure.

However, SOL’s ability to maintain support above the 50-day MA suggests that market participants largely viewed the disruption as temporary rather than a fundamental threat to the network. This resilience could help strengthen investor confidence in Solana, particularly if the network continues to demonstrate its ability to recover quickly from such incidents.
