Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest bought Tesla shares on July 2 after the electric vehicle maker dropped 7.5 percent in the same session (per Google Finance data).
Public trade summaries said ARK bought 96,935 Tesla shares across ARKK, ARKW and ARKX. Based on Tesla’s $393.45 closing price, the purchase was worth about $38.1 million.
The largest Tesla purchase came through ARKK, based on the trade notice shared by Ark Invest Tracker on X. ARKK also bought Bullish, SoFi Technologies, X-Energy and Recursion Pharmaceuticals on the same date.
Tesla remains a central ARK Invest position
The latest Tesla purchase came after the EV company reported second-quarter vehicle deliveries of 480,126 units. Tesla said it produced more than 450,000 vehicles, delivered more than 480,000 vehicles and deployed 13.5 gigawatt-hours of energy storage products in the quarter. The delivery update came on the same day as the stock’s sharp decline.
The drop in Tesla shares did not stop ARK from adding to its position. Tesla closed at $393.45, with an intraday low of $389.36 and intraday volume above 73.9 million shares. The move suggests ARK used the decline to increase exposure, though the trade disclosure did not state the reason for the purchase.
Ark Invest Tracker also noted that ARK held 2,558,021 Tesla shares across four ETFs after the trade. The tracker placed the value near $1.09 billion, spread across ARKK, ARKQ, ARKW and ARKX. The figure was presented by the tracker and was not shown in the trade image itself.
Elsewhere, Tesla has remained part of the broader Elon Musk technology story through its xAI ties. Tesla recently began rolling out the xAI-developed “Hey Grok” voice assistant in newer vehicles, allowing drivers to use voice commands without touching the screen.
Bullish and SoFi add crypto and fintech angle
ARK also increased exposure to Bullish, the crypto-focused company listed under BLSH. Public trade summaries said ARK bought 91,353 Bullish shares across ARKK, ARKW and ARKF, valued at about $2.3 million. The image shared by Ark Invest Tracker showed ARKK buying 77,251 Bullish shares on July 2.
Bullish closed at $25.57 on July 2, up 1.35 percent for the session. The company operates in digital asset market infrastructure, and its shares give equity investors a way to track part of the crypto trading sector. Bullish also said in May that shareholders can hold BLSH ordinary shares as tokens on Solana.
Furthermore, the trade adds to ARK’s recent buying in crypto-linked stocks. ARK bought more than $75 million of crypto shares during June, including Coinbase, Circle and Bullish. That buying came during weak crypto market conditions and showed ARK’s continued interest in listed crypto infrastructure companies.
ARK also bought 54,838 SoFi Technologies shares through ARKK, based on the shared trade notice. SoFi closed at $18.24, down about 1 percent. The purchase added a fintech element to the day’s buying, alongside Tesla, Bullish and smaller additions to X-Energy and Recursion Pharmaceuticals.
ARK trims Roku and other growth names
ARK also sold several positions. The largest sale shown in the ARKK image was Roku, with ARK selling 124,660 shares, equal to 0.2678 percent of the ETF. Public trade summaries placed ARK’s broader Roku sale at 180,228 shares across ARKK, ARKW and ARKF, worth about $25.3 million.
Roku closed at $142.43, up about 1.4 percent for the session. The sale continued a recent pattern of ARK cutting exposure to the streaming platform.
ARKK also sold Alibaba, Twist Bioscience and Illumina shares. ARKQ recorded one sale, with 158,756 shares of Strata Critical Medical sold, equal to 0.0391 percent of the ETF. Other public trade summaries also listed sales in Absci and Iridium Communications.
As previously reported by The Coin Headlines, investors have also been watching how capital moves between crypto, AI and Musk-led companies such as SpaceX. The latest ARK activity does not prove a broader rotation by itself, but it shows Wood’s funds still hold interest in both Tesla-linked technology and crypto market infrastructure.
