Tetra Digital Group said institutions can now custody CADD with Anchorage Digital, giving Canada’s first regulated Canadian-dollar stablecoin another institutional custody route as demand grows for compliant digital-asset settlement tools.

The update was announced by Tetra Digital Group in an X post on May 22, with the company saying Anchorage Digital would provide regulated custody infrastructure for institutional clients holding CADD.

The Anchorage integration gives asset managers, corporates and treasury teams a way to hold the Canadian-dollar token inside institutional custody workflows rather than relying on retail exchanges or self-custody.

CADD brings Canadian dollars on-chain

CADD is a Canadian-dollar stablecoin issued through Tetra Trust Company via CAD Digital Inc and backed 1:1 by Canadian dollars held in trust.

Tetra said earlier this month that the token had received approval from Alberta Treasury Board and Finance, making it Canada’s first CAD-backed stablecoin issued by a regulated financial institution.

The token is available on Base, Ethereum and Tempo, giving institutions and fintech firms access to Canadian-dollar settlement across multiple blockchain networks.

The stablecoin is designed to move Canadian dollars across blockchain-based payment rails with faster settlement and greater programmability than legacy systems.

Tetra has positioned CADD for institutional use cases including 24/7 cross-border settlement, corporate treasury transfers, marketplace payouts and direct settlement between fintech partners.

The launch gives Canada a domestic alternative in a stablecoin market still dominated by U.S. dollar tokens, with Tetra saying all funds used to mint CADD are dedicated exclusively to redemption in a structure aimed at banks, payment service providers and fintech platforms seeking regulatory clarity and reserve protection from the start.

What Anchorage Digital adds

Anchorage Digital operates Anchorage Digital Bank, providing institutional clients with custody, settlement, staking and other digital-asset services through a qualified-custodian model that allows institutions to hold both cash and crypto within the same regulated custody interface.

For CADD, Anchorage support gives institutions another regulated venue to safeguard the token within existing digital-asset operations, using a custody model that includes offline private-key security, transaction review, anomaly detection and human oversight before blockchain transactions are broadcast.

The company says its bank provides federally regulated custody, bankruptcy-remote qualified custody and rapid transaction processing, features that make the CADD integration more useful for institutions seeking compliant Canadian-dollar settlement on-chain.
