USDEAbout Ethena USDe
USDe is a synthetic dollar token issued using the Ethena protocol on Ethereum. It aims to represent a value of 1 U.S. dollar, but does not hold a bank deposit for each token. USDe is minted by depositing permitted cryptocurrency assets, and the protocol hedges and manages collateral risks to minimise market exposure. This makes USDe part of a broader sea of DeFi stable-value tokens, but USDe's structure is not that of a fiat-backed stablecoin. USDe is primarily used for payments, market operations, liquidity and DeFi within approved applications. It may be used to transfer dollar-like value on-chain, to settle payments and provide liquidity when integrated. Users can also deposit or stake related assets with Ethena to earn rewards, subject to the current policy. It's built on derivatives and collateral mechanisms; users must read the risks.
