Dai is a dollar-pegged stablecoin created by MakerDAO, now part of the Sky ecosystem. It runs mainly on Ethereum and gives crypto users a stable unit for payments, saving, trading, lending, and DeFi activity without leaving blockchain rails. Users create Dai by locking approved collateral in Maker/Sky vaults, then repay debt to unlock it. Dai also moves through wallets, exchanges, liquidity pools, payment apps, and lending markets. It is not the main governance token; MKR, with Sky governance changes, handles voting. Dai’s core role is settlement, liquidity, collateral, payments, and access to decentralized finance. Inside its ecosystem, Dai helps borrowers raise stable liquidity while holders use it to avoid constant token volatility. It supports fees inside connected apps, earns rewards through Sky-linked savings-style products, and serves as a practical bridge between crypto markets and everyday dollar-denominated activity during trades, transfers, borrowing, treasury management, remittances, and merchant checkout use cases.
