Cronos is a Layer-1 blockchain built for tokenized markets, payments, and Web3 applications. It provides affordable access to smart contract tech to developers, institutions, and the Crypto.com community. It also connects with other chains through the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol. The CRO token powers gas fees, staking, governance, and selected services across the wider Crypto.com ecosystem. Therefore, the token links network activity with exchange-linked products and on-chain applications. Cronos uses CometBFT, which is a Proof-of-Authority consensus protocol with a permissioned set of validators. It also allows dApps to settle quickly and with low costs and high performance. The future vision is that of tokenized real-world objects, AI agent tools, and controlled markets. Cronos is also supported by Crypto.com, which has a huge user base on a global scale. The platform supports decentralized finance, NFTs, and enterprise development on the EVM today globally.
