Avalanche (AVAX) is a smart contract platform and decentralized, customizable blockchain for fast asset transfers. AVAX, its native token, powers wallets, exchanges, DeFi (decentralised finance) applications, games and tokenised asset platforms. Fees, staking, governance, rewards, payments, liquidity, DeFi, gaming and infrastructure are all use cases. Users can pay transaction fees in AVAX when they swap assets and use smart contracts. AVAX token holders stake AVAX with validators to secure the network and receive rewards. They also vote in governance to set fees and rewards to validators. AVAX is the primary currency, security and application access token. Developers use Avalanche to create DeFi markets, enterprise apps, NFTs, gaming apps and subnets for custom blockchains. AVAX enables users to transact fast, use applications and directly participate in an adaptable network designed for a wide array of digital currencies and web services globally.
