Blockchain Futurist Conference: Anvil to debut 'Letters of Credit' for sponsors

Anvil, a decentralized credit protocol built on Ethereum, is set to launch a service that will let potential event sponsors reserve their slots with digital collateral instead of cash. Dubbed “Letters of Credit” (LOC), the initiative will officially be launched in Toronto over the weekend during the Blockchain Futuristic Conference.

Anvil’s new system will essentially remove the need for sponsors to commit capital in advance, usually months before the event materializes. Instead, using LOC, sponsors will be able pledge the amount in the for of digital assets that they already own. This way, the collateral will remain under the sponsors’ custody, generating yield, until the final payment is due.

In a statement shared with The Coin Headlines, Anvil said LOC is a way to bring more utility to digital assets. Once the service goes live, digital assets would be eligible to secure commitments without having companies to freeze their working capital from operational expenses.

Maximillian Schwartz, the CEO of Anvil Research Labs, will be taking the stage at the conference on July 21. He plans to open a discussion on how DeFi is revamping traditional models like “Buy Now, Pay Later”.

Anvil itself is a sponsor for the ninth edition of the annual Blockchain Futurist Conference.

Talking on the launch of LOC, conference founder Tracy Leparulo said, “Anvil LOCs enable us to streamline our operations, not have to worry if we are going to get paid, and allow us to focus solely on putting on the best conference possible.”

The conference from slated for June 21-22 will bring industry insiders from the sectors of AI, finance, and Web3 under one roof. Speakers from Bloomberg and Messari will join representatives from Wall Street giants like JPMorgan and Mastercard to headline sessions at the event.

The official X handle of the event — @Futurist_conf — is posting regular updates about the speaker lineup and session schedules for attendees to keep track.
