Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok and Visa Global President Oliver Jenkyn met at Visa’s Global Market Support Center in San Francisco to share a detailed roadmap for their new partnership.

This deal, officially signed between Dunamu and Visa’s Asia-Pacific outfit, Visa Worldwide Pte. Limited, represents a massive step for Visa as it significantly increases its reach into South Korea’s super-active and growing digital asset scene.

Dunamu, the operator of South Korea's largest crypto exchange Upbit, has signed a strategic partnership with Visa to jointly develop next-generation financial services using stablecoins and artificial intelligence.

A strategic alliance for the future of finance

The team-up aims to fuse Dunamu’s digital asset expertise with Visa’s massive global payment network to develop highly innovative financial services, including stablecoin-based payments, fast international remittances, and new merchant settlement solutions.

Moreover, the two companies are planning to roll out these services in phases, while keeping a close eye on all relevant laws and regulatory requirements.

OUSD and agentic commerce on the table

While specific service formats and launch dates remain undetermined, the partnership will evaluate business models involving Open Standard’s Open USD stablecoin, better known by the symbol OUSD.

OUSD, supported by over 140 organizations including Visa, Mastercard, Google, and BlackRock, is designed as shared payments infrastructure with no mint or redeem fees at scale.

Dunamu has clarified that OUSD is one of multiple stablecoins being reviewed and that the partnership aims for an open structure that can connect various stablecoins to traditional finance and payment systems.

The collaboration also extends to “agentic commerce,” where AI agents search for products and complete purchases on users’ behalf, as well as the technology and infrastructure necessary for AI payments.

South Korea’s growing crypto market

This partnership tags along with Visa’s separate deal with Shinhan Financial Group from earlier this week focused on stablecoin and AI payment infrastructure, clearly showing Visa’s aggressive push into South Korea’s crypto market, which is home to at least 16 million crypto users.

Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok highlighted the significance of the moment: “The spread of AI, stablecoins and tokenization is a key trend that will change how finance and commerce operate.”
