Retail sentiment on XRP turns negative despite Flare integration

XRP repeats 2024 deleveraging pattern that preceded 790 percent rally

XRP retail commentary has turned negative, and it is at a three-month high on platforms like X, Reddit, and Telegram. The heightened negative commentary comes in the wake of XRP’s integration with Flare, which allows XRP holders to earn yield from Flare.

The XRP community seems to be exhausted, and the negativity seems to have started to spread across social media platforms. The negative commentary about XRP hit a 3-month high despite the active addresses hitting 49,929 in a 24-hour period.

XRP loses $1 psychological level

If the retail commentary stays negative when the on-chain data gets better, today’s negativity could become tomorrow’s discounted entry narrative. In terms of the prices, XRP has crashed below the psychological support level at $1 after breaking out from the falling wedge. Usually a falling wedge produces a breakout upwards; however, with the mounting bear pressure, XRP could not even hold above the lower trendline of the falling wedge.

Retail sentiment on XRP turns negative despite Flare integration

The loss of the $1 level is particularly important because it could weaken market confidence and encourage additional selling if buyers fail to reclaim it. At the same time, improving on-chain activity could provide a fundamental counterweight to the bearish price action. If accumulation and network participation continue to strengthen while XRP trades at depressed levels, the divergence between fundamentals and price could eventually attract buyers.

XRP integrates with Flare ecosystem

The crash comes at a time when XRP is integrated with the Flare ecosystem, which allows the XRP holders to earn yield through the Flare ecosystem. Flare’s FXRP has been accepted as collateral on Derive, allowing users to use the XRP-backed asset to trade options and perpetual positions on the decentralized derivatives platform. FXRP is a trustless wrapped representation of XRP created through Flare’s FAssets protocol, which enables XRP to be used within smart contract-based applications.

The integration expands the utility of XRP beyond the XRP Ledger by allowing its value to enter the DeFi derivatives market. Instead of selling their XRP, users can convert it into FXRP and potentially use it as collateral to open leveraged or options-based positions on Derive.
