About Arweave

Arweave is a decentralized storage network designed to store information permanently as opposed to temporarily. Arweave does not rely on one provider, but rather spreads data across the network so that it can be available over time without having to pay continuous renewal fees. Its structure is known as a blockweave where each subsequent block is connected to both the preceding block and a randomly selected older block, which helps to keep old information relevant to the network. Its consensus mechanism, Proof of Access, makes miners demonstrate that they can access stored historical data prior to adding another block.  That design links mining rewards to long-term storage, thus encouraging replication and robustness of the archive.  The native token of Arweave is AR and used to pay the storage of the data in the network, as well as to reward miners who maintain access to past information. The outcome is a system that is supposed to be permanent web content, records and applications and requires a long-lasting, censorship-resistant storage.
