EigenLayer's onchain activity spikes while momentum quietly builds beneath resistance

Eigenlayer (EIGEN) saw heightened on-chain activity and whale transactions yesterday, the highest activity recorded in the last four months. Despite the spike in whales’ activity, the price of the coin EIGEN has been quite neutral, which looks more like an early position than a breakout.

EIGEN whales get active after 4 months

Market intelligence platform Santiment spotted a spike in on-chain activity on the Eigenlayer staking protocol. The spike in on-chain activity comes from 60 whale transactions, which is the highest number of whale transactions seen since March 2026. In addition to these transactions, 219 new wallets were also added.

This sudden spike in on-chain activity seems to be tied to a few upgrades and developments happening on Eigen. For instance:

EigenCloud
EigenCloud is EigenLayer’s developer platform that enables builders to create decentralized services secured by Ethereum restaking. Its launch has increased interest in the ecosystem by expanding EigenLayer’s real-world utility beyond restaking alone.

Fee-focused tokenomics
EigenLayer’s token model aims to capture value by directing protocol-generated fees to participants in the ecosystem. As network usage grows, higher fee generation could strengthen demand for the EIGEN token.

AVS rewards
Actively Validated Services (AVSs) reward restakers and operators for providing economic security to decentralized applications and infrastructure. As more AVSs launch, participants can potentially earn additional rewards on top of standard Ethereum staking yields.

Upcoming unlock monitoring
Investors closely watch scheduled token unlocks because they increase the circulating supply of EIGEN. Large unlocks can create selling pressure if recipients choose to realize profits, making them a key event for traders to monitor.

EIGEN’s bearish technicals may be overridden by on-chain strength

Usually when there is a spike in on-chain activity, it will be reflected in the prices. However, there is no price fluctuation whatsoever when the charts are observed. For example, when looking at the chart, it could be seen that EIGEN is trading inside a bear flag, making higher highs and higher lows.

Currently, after making a higher low, EIGEN is now bound to rebound off of the lower trendline and head towards the upper trendline. In the meantime, the 50-day MA is about to cross the 200-day MA from below, and there could be a golden cross. As such, EIGEN may rebound and hit the upper trendline in the coming days.

Having said that, the bear flag scenario does not change. This pattern of making higher lows and higher highs will continue until the flag is completed. Once the flag is completed, EIGEN may crash. But as the whales are active, the bearish technical scenario could be overridden.
